Robin Turner

Robin Turner is originally from Saint John, New Brunswick, and came to Fredericton to study at NBCCD. Turner graduated from the College in 2017 with a diploma in Jewellery/Metal Arts. She graduated from the Advanced Studio Practice the following year, and has focused on enamelling and has crafted a unique and modern style that continues to evolve.

In her first solo exhibition since graduating, Robin Turner invites us to reflect on her new series of enamelled pieces. She has taken the year and has been honing in on her craft, and working passionately on her new series, titled “BLOOM". Through this body of work, the intention is to create a series that is powerful, playful and representative of her capabilities.

In this collection, she creates brooches with hand drawn floral images set in an ornate frame, expressing both femininity and purity. Primarily, each piece is made with enamel on copper to accentuate lustrous colours, and various accents such as pearls and felt that inspires the design of the objects.

This series of work is a collaboration of both my jewellery and drawing backgrounds. Each pendant is made of enamel with hand drawn images of flowers and set in a hand cut filagree frame expressing both purity and growth.
