David Reeves was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and graduated in engineering at the University of Toronto in 1976. He has lived in Quispamsis, New Brunswick for the past thirty-two years. He is an elected, juried member of two national professional artist societies - the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour (CSPWC) and the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA).David paints in oils, watercolours, pastels, and acrylics frequently mixing the medias. He was awarded the H.K. Holbein Award for Innovative Use of Watercolour for his painting “Surfacing” at the 2004 Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour (CSPWC) "Open Water" national juried show. David was elected as a member of the CSPWC and the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA) in 2006. In 2009 David received two more awards. His painting “Night Descending on the Harbour” was awarded the 4th Place Prize in the Pastel Journal’s annual Pastel 100 competition from a field of 5000 entries.He also received a third place award at the Sunbury Shores Art and Nature Centre show “The Art of Food” for his watercolour “Strawberries and Beer for Peter”.
