Tyson Minard is a mixed media artist specializing in metalsmithing. Born and raised in New Brunswick, he is described as a free spirit who genuinely enjoys all forms of art. Beginning at a young age, he experimented with any medium he could; including textiles, clay, sculpture, woodwork, embroidery, painting and jewelry; just to name a few. Intrigued by what the art world has to offer, Tyson never tires from learning new subjects and techniques.
Currently, Tyson has a variety of completed work such as bracelets, pendants and rings that are being displayed in a showcase on the first floor of the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design as part of the Jewelry and Metal Arts program. Another piece of his work, a fox spirit mask, was included in the virtual showcase for the 2020 convocation at the College.
With the loving support of his husband, Tyson has been able to continuously pursue his passion for creating art and learning from his many mentors. The body of his metalsmithing work includes production style pieces, limited edition and one of a kind jewellery. He favours casting with cuttlefish or investment, and also experiments with a variety of textures and high-polish finishes.
