New Brunswick College of Craft and Design - 2021 STERLING Exhibition

Ariel Dufour was born in 1996 in Moncton, NB. From a very young age she loved creating with her hands. From beach glass and ceramic mosaic, to stone sculptures and shell Christmas ornaments, she often got inspired from nature’s treasures. When she was 16 years old she started selling her crafts at her father’s shop. She started with dreamcatchers and simple stone bead aromatherapy bracelets and then eventually widened her range by doing earrings, pendants, anklets, and other kinds of bracelets. Five years later, after a full year of travelling throughout Central America, and a year studying visual arts l'Université de Moncton, she started her business. She sold her creations in all kinds of craft fairs, markets, and festivals. After a very busy summer of creating and selling, she felt like her creativity had reached a peak and she wanted to expand her knowledge. While she was in Mexico that winter, she took a 2 week sterling silver jewellery class and instantly fell in love with the trade. She then enrolled in the jewellery program at NBCCD.

Now she enjoys creating pieces that she personally would like to wear. They are in the most part minimalistic, geometrical and dainty and most importantly they need to be comfortable.
