Sylvia was born in Lac-Mégantic, Québec. Growing up, she lived surrounded by landscapes of water and mountains. She nurtured a passion for art and later created a vast series of works during her studies at the school of Beaux-Arts in Montréal (UQAM). She continued her art practice while pursuing her career of teaching art at all levels. After having taught pedagogy at the Faculty of Visual Arts of Laval University, Sylvia now devotes herself full-time to the expression of her art through painting.

Her recent artistic production has earned recognition and numerous awards from peers in Montréal, throughout Québec, Toronto, Vancouver, France, Spain, the Vatican, Belgium, Italy, and California. One of her works was selected to be exhibited at the Carrousel du Louvre in December 2016 with the Canadian delegation.

Her figurative painting, although realistic, leaves room for imagination. Also, the natural world is at the heart of her interests, so the environmental undercurrent is representative in her works. "Indeed, I am influenced by the natural environment in which the water and its vapours, whether mist, ice, snow or clouds, bathed my paintings."
