Raised in Fredericton, NB and now based in Toronto, Peter Sabat works as a filmmaker, editor and visual artist. He has frequently collaborated with musicians and composers on diverse projects including documentaries, operas, and art projects both in Europe and in North America. His work has been presented at international film festivals in Rotterdam and Locarno, the MaerzMusik music festival and the Deutsche Kinemathek in Berlin, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Centre George Pompidou in Paris and at the Art Institute of Chicago. His installation “AUTOMAT”, which premiered at KNM's HouseMusik festival in Berlin last year, was presented at Carnegie Hall, New York, as part of the “Berlin in Lights” festival in 2007. His ongoing collaboration with brother Marc Sabat, a composer and violinist living in Berlin, Germany, also includes “BITTER MUSIC” (2002/2006), and “Three For Magister Zacharias” (2002/2004).
