WE CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE WORK BY LLOYD

Born in 1941 in Newcastle, NB. His family was not artistic and no art instruction was offered in the school system of his rural home. And yet, from early childhood he persisted in drawing what he saw around him and later in copying the work of the old Dutch masters, such as Vermeer, which were among his favourite painters and strong influences. Lloyd worked as a commercial artist in the United States and served in the US army. Upon his return to Canada in 1966, he joined the federal Department of Forestry where his apprenticeship with nature itself was entrenched. He submitted his works to Alex Colville and J. F. Lansdowne, both of whom he greatly esteemed. Colville dismissed Fitzgerald's insecurities about not having formal training and praised his intuitive artistry; he recommended Lloyd to Dr. Max Stern, owner of Dominion Gallery in Montreal, who became his agent and the artist's career flourished.
Lloyd Fitzgerald's paintings have been reproduced in many publications and fine art prints, including the British Columbia Wildlife Review, Outdoors, Atlantic Advocate, in the reports of the Ministry of Forestry, Halifax, Department of Natural Resources, Fredericton, Reader's Digest, Montreal, the American Natural History Periodical and Duck's Unlimited. The Canadian Forest Service of Natural Resources commissioned a mural painted by Lloyd which is on display at Science East in Fredericton.
His work is in private collections in Canada and around the world. His work is part of many prestigious corporate and public collections.
