Doreen Boudreau was born in a small rural community outside of Moncton and is of Acadian descent. In 1960 she obtained a teaching permit from the New Brunswick Department of Education and went on to teach elementary classes in Kent and Westmorland counties. In 1966, Doreen and her husband Gerald moved to Fredericton, where they established a business and raised a family of two daughters and one son. With the support of her family, Doreen has been able to concentrate much of her time during the past decades on her painting. She has taken extension courses at the University of New Brunswick and studied at Sunbury Shores & Nature Centre and in Rockland, Maine.

Doreen states that she believes in the validity of realistic expression. It is to her the most honest and direct way to express her feelings and experiences with others. Her watercolours are exquisite examples of that statement. Her colour palette is subtle, her technique is exacting. Doreen is keenly aware of her surroundings and her paintings allow the audience to appreciate the beauty in their lives.

Doreen has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions - both invitational and juried. She has been the receipient of a number of awards for her watercolours, including honourable mention at the inaugural Marion McCain Juried Exhibition at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, alongside Molly Lamb Bobak, Maureen Bourque, Stephen May and Sidi Schaffer. Her watercolours are included in the permanent collections of the University of New Brunswick, the Provincial Art Bank and many private collections.
