GREAT LOST PARTY WITH BEAST SPIRIT (1964) David Blackwood was born in 1941 in Wesleyville on Bonavista Bay in Newfoundland into a family with a long history of seafarers. Wesleyville was known for the captains and skippers it bred, known throughout Newfoundland and the nautical world for their seafaring skills. These are the images and legends that David Blackwood has immortalized in his art. He has the ability to use visual images to tell tales that are sought the world over. Blackwood is considered to be one of Canada's premier printmakers and has been awarded many national and international awards. His work is included in National Galleries throughout the world and is represented in countless fine private collections. |
