Ben F. Stahl is a resident of Prince Edward Island, having moved to the island after being commissioned by Bantam Books to develop 36 historical paintings for the covers of the novels and short stories by Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of the ever-popular Anne of Green Gables. He was born in Chicago and has lived on both coasts of the United States and Canada and in Europe. Ben Stahl worked as a freelance illustrator for most of the major publishing companies in the United States.

He has taught drawing and painting at Bridgeport, Connecticut and the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. His work has won awards in several New York Society of Illustrators Annual Exhibits and has won the American Institute Graphic awards. He is a member of the New York Society of illustrators and included in Who's Who in American Art, as well as The Illustrator in America 1860-2000/Walt Reed.

He has had solo exhibitions in Europe, New York, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. He has been sought after for his accuracy and sensitivity in portraying historical subjects. Gallery 78 is pleased to welcome Mr. Stahl's work to New Brunswick and look forward to a future series of paintings of dancers.
